Britney Spears arrested on suspicion of DUI in California
Pop star Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, late Wednesday night. According to authorities, the 44-year-old singer was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. PT in the Moorpark area after another driver reported erratic driving and called 911. Spears was taken into custody and booked into the Ventura County jail at approximately 3:02 a.m. on Thursday, March 5. She was released about three hours later, shortly after 6:00 a.m., on a cite-and-release basis, meaning no bail was required. Spears is scheduled to appear in court at Ventura County Superior Court in May. Shortly after her release, Spears deactivated or deleted her Instagram account. The arrest comes just days after the singer secured a permanent restraining order against a 51-year-old man who had allegedly been stalking and harassing her since 2013.
Gloves found in Nancy Guthrie case traced to nearby restaurant worker
Authorities investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie say gloves discovered roughly two miles from her Tucson home have been traced through DNA to a nearby restaurant employee who is not connected to the case. Chris Nanos, sheriff of the Pima County Sheriff's Department, confirmed the match but said the individual has been ruled out as a suspect. While the discovery did not identify the person responsible for Guthrie’s disappearance, investigators say the lead helped eliminate a potential connection and the search for answers continues. Officials are still analyzing additional DNA evidence collected from the scene as the investigation remains active. Guthrie—the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-host of the Today show—was reported missing on February 1 in Tucson. At this time, authorities say no suspects or motives have been publicly identified.
Patriots release Stefon Diggs in a cost-saving move
The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Stefon Diggs after just one season in a cost-saving move. The 32-year-old Maryland native was due for a significant salary increase, and his release saves the team roughly $16 million against the salary cap. Diggs was in the first year of a three-year, $63 million contract with New England. Despite the move, he was the team’s top offensive producer during the 2025 season, recording 99 receptions for 1,123 yards and four touchdowns. His strong performance helped lead the Patriots to Super Bowl LX, where they fell 29–13 to the Seattle Seahawks. Now a free agent, Diggs could draw interest from several teams, including the Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, or potentially a reunion with the Buffalo Bills.
