Anne Hathaway releases single “Burial” from upcoming film Mother Mary
The Oscar winner debuted the catchy synth-pop ballad, which was co-written by Hathaway alongside Charli XCX, Jack Antonoff, and George Daniel of The 1975. The track will appear on the Mother Mary: Greatest Hits soundtrack album, scheduled for release on April 17. The A24 film, directed by David Lowery and described as an epic pop melodrama, stars Hathaway as the titular Mother Mary, a world-renowned pop star who spirals into an existential crisis. After abruptly abandoning her massive stadium tour, she becomes entangled in a complicated relationship with her estranged friend and fashion designer Sam Anselm, played by Michaela Coel. Mother Mary opens in select theaters on April 17 before expanding nationwide on April 24.
